Setting accurate shipping costs is crucial for e-commerce to ensure customers are charged correctly at checkout. In a marketplace setup, each vendor has their own shipping rates, which are determined by various factors:

1. Warehouse location of the vendor

2. Nature of products (e.g., bulky items vs. small items)

3. Speed of shipping offered (e.g., air vs. surface transport)

4. Shipping policy of the vendor (e.g., based on order value or order weight)

5. Pricing policy of the vendor (e.g., built-in shipping cost in product price, free or discounted shipping)

In the app, you can create different "Shipping Profiles" and "Shipping Rates" for each vendor. During checkout, shipping rates are calculated separately for each vendor's basket of products and then totaled to display a single shipping cost to the customer.

Note: This feature requires merchants to have the "3rd party carrier calculated shipping" available on their shopify plan.

Shipping Profiles settings:

Things to note:

1. If you activate Shipping Profiles in Shipturtle, make sure to remove any existing profiles in your Shopify Shipping settings. Otherwise, they will appear at checkout alongside those created in the app.

2. It may take 10-15 minutes for changes to Shipping profiles to appear on the checkout page.

3. You can define Shipping rules within a Profile based on Weight, Order, or a combination of both.

4. If an order meets the conditions of two different rules, the app will apply the rule with the lower Shipping cost.

5. If an order doesn't meet any rules set by a Vendor, it will apply the Master rules set by the Merchant in their Profile.

6. If an order doesn't meet any rules from both the Vendor and the Merchant, the Shipping cost will be calculated as 0.

To add a new Shipping Profile, follow these steps:

1. Click on "Add Shipping Profile".

2. In the pop-up window, enter the name of the new Shipping Profile and specify the applicable Vendor.

To add rules to the Shipping Profile, follow these steps:

1. Click on "Edit" for the newly created Shipping Profile.

2. Add rules to the profile according to your requirements.

3. Create Shipping Profiles for all Vendors in a similar manner.

Configure your Shopify Shipping settings by following these steps:

1. Go to your Shopify Settings -> Shipping and Delivery.

2. Under that, click “Manage rates”.

3. Next, click “Create Shipping Zones”, enter your Zone name, and select the geography you are delivering to.

4. Once the Zone is created, click on Add Rate and select “Use carrier or app to calculate rates”.

5. Shopify will automatically detect the rates feature of Shipturtle.

6. Configure the settings as per the image below. Select Shipturtle as the app to calculate rates. Select “Services” as “Custom” and save.

Troubleshooting / Frequently Asked Questions:

1. How can I show a separate Vendor breakup on the Shopify checkout page?

Refer to: Split Cart.

2. Can I show carrier-calculated rates on the Shopify checkout page?

Refer to: 3rd party calculator

3. How do I set up Shipping Zones to create different Shipping rules based on the Customer’s city/zip code?

We are currently working on this utility and will upgrade the app soon.

4. I have set up the entire app as per the instructions above. However, I can see two rates at checkout, one as created in Shipturtle and another one. Why is this happening?

This generally occurs when you have not deleted the Shipping profiles created on your Shopify store. Please contact us at [email protected] so we can assist you.

5. Can I keep different weight units in the Shipping Profile vs my Shop?

No, this is currently not possible. If you are setting rules in KG, for example, you cannot set Product weights in grams. Please ensure they are consistent.
